Welcome to Memory-Capsule ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS mobile application (the "App") and any associated website or services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account information: When you register with email and password, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email (or Apple's relay address). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and the URL of your existing Google profile picture — we store this URL so your name and avatar can be displayed in the app; we do not upload or store the image itself.
• Capsule content: Photos, videos, and files you upload when creating or filling a memory-capsule.
• Recipient information: Email addresses of people you invite to receive a capsule.

Information Collected Automatically

• Push notification token: When you grant notification permission, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token linked to your account. This token is used solely to deliver capsule unlock notifications to your device. We do not collect general device identifiers, usage analytics, or crash reports.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• Store your capsule content securely until the unlock date.
• Deliver capsule unlock notifications to you and invited recipients.
• Process in-app subscription purchases via Apple's StoreKit.
• Respond to your support requests and inquiries.
• Comply with legal obligations.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage), which provides industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Capsule content is stored in Google Cloud Storage and is only accessible by you and the recipients you explicitly invite. We do not access your capsule content except as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal requirements.

5. Data Retention and Auto-Deletion

Capsule content is automatically deleted a set number of days after the capsule unlocks:

• Free / Trial accounts: 7 days after unlock.
• Premium accounts: 14 days after unlock.

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected].

6. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers: Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage), Apple (in-app purchases, push notifications). These providers process data only as needed to provide services to us.
• Recipients you invite: When you add someone to a capsule, their App account can see that they have been invited and will receive the capsule on the unlock date.
• Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.

7. Third-Party Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, those services may collect and process your data according to their own privacy policies. We only receive the profile information necessary to create your account.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information.

9. Your Rights

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App (Profile → Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us at [email protected] with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

You can also update your display name from within the App at any time. If you have any other questions about the data we hold, feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to help.

10. Cookies and Tracking

The App itself does not use cookies. Our website may use cookies for basic analytics and functionality. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
